Oil Painting worshops: Learn how to paint in a friendly, intimate group

On Saturday 16th May I will be running a two hour painting workshops as part of Oxfordshire Artweeks 2020. See the details below:

Adult's Oil Painting Workshops

£35 per head (incl equipment and materials)

Time: 11.30am to 1.30pm

At: Jericho Community Centre, 33A Canal Street, Oxford, OX2 6BQ

Booking is essential as there are limited spaces to ensure participants have plenty of 1:1 support and intensive tuition time.

Who is this for? Anyone interested in learning to oil paint - NO experience necessary.

What will I paint? Remember that fantastic photograph you took on holiday or just out for the day, and said ‘that would make a fantastic picture’? Here’s your chance to put it onto canvas and find ways to express yourself in oils whilst also experimenting with some basic techniques and skills.

What will I learn? Using a mix of still life and photographs – either your own or supplied by me – you will learn how to paint a variety of subjects, building to painting a beautiful, large scale sfumato sky/landscape.

Sfumato is the word given to the technique Leonardo da Vinci used to paint the Mona Lisa’s enigmatic and beautiful smile. I use it to describe the kind of skies I paint; intriguing, surprising, stunning. In my workshops I will take you step by step through my techniques so that you will go away with your own sfumato sky and landscape at the end of them– be it a dramatic sunset, a mystical sunrise or simply a beautiful puff-cloud summer sky. The first 2 workshops include most materials and equipment, but a snall charge will be applied for materials after this as your paintings grow in size.  You will be fully supported through the painting process from preparation of your canvas right through to completion of your painting . Techniques of blending, texturising, painting foliage, using colour to effect and Debrah’s personal technique of painting sfumato skies will all be covered.

How much does it cost? £35 for the whole workshop. This includes all materials, canvas board, use of equipment and tuition. Thereafter, materials and canvas boards will be charged at cost - generally no more than £5 per session unless large scale boards are being used.

How long does it run? This is a two hour workshop, but please note you should arrive about 10mins before the official start time to get set up.

Where will it be held? Jericho Community Centre, 33A Canal Street, Jericho, Oxford, OX2 6BQ

When will the workshop be confirmed? Your place will be confirmed on payment. In the event of the workshop being under/oversubscribed or unable to take place due to unforeseen circumstances you will be sent notification of cancellation and a full refund.

Special instructions: Please arrive by 11.15am to get set up and prepared to start. Please wear old clothes you don’t mind getting paint on.

How do I enrol? Please email info@debrahmartin.co.uk to book your place. You will then be asked to pay by BACS, or via 'PayPal' to info@debrahmartin.co.uk

Places are limited and these will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis. Your place will be confirmed when payment has been received.
